This Privacy Policy explains how Nodeloc LLC (“NodeLoc,” “NL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you access or use the NodeLoc website, forums, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”), and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

Privacy rules may differ depending on where you live:

2. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies to personal information we process through the website, forums, mobile applications, and support, safety, and administrative communications between you and us.

It does not apply to websites, applications, products, or services independently controlled by third parties. Third-party links and integrated services are governed by their own privacy policies.

3. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, we collect the following categories of information.

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account and profile information: Username, display name, email address, profile image, and any optional profile fields you complete;
  • User Content: Posts, replies, comments, images, links, votes, likes or other reactions, bookmarks, reports, and other Content or interactions you submit through the Services;
  • Communications: Messages, appeals, reports, feedback, and related attachments you send to support personnel, administrators, or moderators;
  • Transaction information: If the Services offer paid features, we may process order status, purchased items, and transaction identifiers. Full payment-card information is generally processed by the app marketplace or payment provider rather than stored directly by us; and
  • Other information you choose to provide.

Do not disclose unnecessary sensitive personal information in public posts or profile fields. Content you publish publicly may be viewed, copied, or reshared by anyone with access to the relevant page.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Network and log information: IP address, request time, pages accessed, referring page, response status, browser type, operating system, and server error information;
  • Device and application information: Device type, application version, system language, time zone, basic diagnostic information, and crash information when the relevant feature is enabled;
  • Usage information: Records of reading, searching, posting, replying, liking, reporting, and other interactions with the Services; and
  • Cookies and similar technologies: Session identifiers, login status, security tokens, preferences, and analytics identifiers when the relevant feature is enabled.

We record IP addresses during account registration, posting, and other security-related activity. Server logs may contain the IP address associated with each request sent to our servers.

3.3 Information From Other Sources

We may receive information from other sources in the following circumstances:

  • If you choose to sign in using a third-party account, we receive the account identifier and profile information that the sign-in provider makes available to us;
  • App marketplaces, payment providers, or other platforms may provide subscription status, transaction identifiers, or refund status;
  • Security, anti-abuse, or technical service providers may provide risk signals;
  • Other users may provide information about you through reports, appeals, or community moderation activity; and
  • We may obtain information from publicly available sources as permitted by law.

We receive only the information needed to provide the relevant feature or fulfill the applicable purpose.

4. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Create, verify, maintain, and protect your account;
  • Provide posts, replies, feeds, search, notifications, community interactions, and other Service features;
  • Remember your language, display, login, and Content preferences;
  • Send account verification messages, security alerts, Service notices, and topic updates you request, and respond to your inquiries;
  • Process reports, blocks, appeals, and community moderation, and investigate spam, fraud, abuse, or other violations;
  • Enforce the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines and protect users, NodeLoc, third parties, and public safety;
  • Diagnose errors, maintain security, monitor performance, and improve the Services;
  • Conduct aggregated statistics and analytics;
  • Process payments, subscriptions, refunds, and related customer support, where applicable;
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to valid legal process, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; and
  • Fulfill another purpose explained to you with your consent or as otherwise permitted by law.

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you unless we separately explain the processing and provide safeguards required by applicable law. Automated anti-spam or risk systems may flag Content or accounts for restriction or human review.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Performance of a contract: To create your account and provide the Services you request;
  • Legitimate interests: To secure the Services, prevent abuse, improve features, understand use of the Services, and protect the legitimate interests of users and NodeLoc;
  • Consent: For optional Cookies, optional marketing communications, or other processing for which the law requires consent;
  • Legal obligations: To comply with tax, accounting, safety, law-enforcement response, or other legal requirements;
  • Vital interests: To protect a person’s life, health, or safety in an emergency; and
  • Any other basis permitted by applicable law.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing completed before withdrawal. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, we balance those interests against your rights and reasonable expectations.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary: Login, sessions, security, fraud prevention, load balancing, and storage of privacy choices;
  • Functionality and preferences: Remembering language, interface, and Content settings;
  • Analytics and performance: Understanding feature use and errors in order to improve the Services; and
  • Advertising or cross-site tracking: Only if we clearly disclose that use, obtain any consent required by law, and provide an opt-out mechanism.

Where required by law, we obtain your consent before setting non-essential Cookies. You can manage your choices through Cookie settings or your browser settings. Disabling essential Cookies may prevent you from signing in or using some features.

The mobile application may use local device storage for preferences or age-gating choices. If information remains only on your device and is not transmitted to NodeLoc, we do not receive it through that feature. Deleting the application or clearing local data may remove those settings.

7. Email and Notifications

We may send account verification messages, security alerts, Service-change notices, report-related messages, and topic notifications you request. These communications are necessary to provide the Services, and some cannot be disabled.

If we send marketing email, we will obtain prior consent where required by law and provide an unsubscribe option in the message. Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect necessary account or security messages.

8. How We Disclose Information

We do not sell your personal information. We also do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose information as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: Vendors that provide hosting, Content delivery, email, customer support, analytics, crash reporting, security, payments, or other technical services on our behalf;
  • Community administrators and moderators: Personnel with appropriate permissions who need information to process reports, enforce community rules, and maintain safety;
  • Other users and the public: Your username, profile, posts, replies, and other interactions that you choose to make public;
  • Business transactions: Relevant participants in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality measures;
  • Law, safety, and protection of rights: To comply with law or valid legal process, investigate violations, prevent fraud or real-world harm, and protect the rights and safety of users, NodeLoc, or third parties; and
  • At your direction or with your consent: Third parties to whom you direct or authorize us to disclose information.

Service providers may process information only under contract, on our instructions, and in accordance with applicable law. They may not use it for unauthorized purposes.

9. Public Content

NodeLoc is a community forum. Usernames, profiles, posts, replies, likes, and other interactions you submit to public areas may be publicly visible and may be indexed by search engines, captured by other users, or shared by third parties.

Deleting your account may not automatically delete all public Content. To preserve the integrity of discussions, and where permitted by applicable law and consistent with your choices, some Content may remain after account deletion but may be disassociated from your account or anonymized. You may delete your own Content before deleting your account or submit a request to [email protected]. We will process the request in light of applicable law, the rights of others, public interests, and technical feasibility.

10. International Transfers

Nodeloc LLC is located in the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and in other countries or regions where our service providers operate. Data-protection laws in those places may differ from the laws where you live.

Where required by applicable law, we use recognized legal mechanisms and safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, contractual protections, and appropriate security measures. 11. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Our principal retention rules are:

  • Server request logs containing IP addresses: Generally no longer than 30 days. Relevant records may be retained longer when needed for a security incident, abuse investigation, or legal hold;
  • Account and profile information: For the life of the account and for a reasonable period after deletion to complete deletion, rotate backups, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations;
  • Public Content: As described in Section 9, it may be deleted, anonymized, or retained to preserve the integrity of discussions where permitted by law;
  • Reports, safety, and moderation records: For as long as needed to resolve the matter, prevent repeated abuse, process appeals, and comply with legal obligations;
  • Transaction and tax records: For the period required by applicable accounting, tax, and consumer laws; and
  • Cookies: For the duration appropriate to their purpose and shown in the relevant Cookie settings.

When a retention period ends, we delete, anonymize, or otherwise securely dispose of the information. Information in backups may remain until the normal backup cycle completes and will be isolated from ordinary use during that period.

12. Information Security

We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature and risk of the information, including access controls, protection of data in transit, logging, update management, and backup measures, to guard against unauthorized access, use, modification, disclosure, or destruction.

No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure. Use a unique, secure password and contact us immediately if you suspect that your account has been compromised.

If a personal information security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will notify affected users and competent authorities as required.

13. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have the right to:

  • Know whether we process your personal information and request access to it or a copy;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete personal information or your account;
  • Restrict or object to particular processing;
  • Receive data in a portable format and transmit it to another service;
  • Withdraw consent;
  • Opt out of marketing communications, non-essential Cookies, and any sale, sharing, or targeted advertising as defined by applicable law;
  • Challenge a significant decision made solely through automated processing;
  • Complain to a data-protection or consumer-protection authority; and
  • Appeal our denial of a privacy request.

You may exercise your rights using tools in your account settings or by emailing [email protected]. Describe your request and identify your country, state, or region. To protect accounts and other users, we may need to reasonably verify your identity. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

We will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising a privacy right in good faith. Certain rights are subject to legal exceptions, including protection of other people’s rights, fraud prevention, retention of security records, and compliance with legal obligations.

Notice of right to object: If we process your personal information based on legitimate interests, you may object for reasons related to your particular situation. You may object at any time to the use of personal information for direct marketing.

14. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. A higher minimum age may apply to certain regions or features.

If we learn that a child provided personal information without any parental or guardian consent required by law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it or otherwise handle it as required by law. A parent or guardian may contact us at [email protected].

15. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may contain third-party websites, Content, or integrations. We do not control how those third parties process information, and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review the third party’s privacy policy before providing information to it.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will publish the revised version and update the date shown at the top. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use information, we will provide advance notice within the period required by law by email, website notice, in-app notice, or another reasonable method.

Where the law requires renewed consent, we will obtain your consent before the relevant processing begins.

17. Additional Terms for the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are located in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Nodeloc LLC is the controller of the processing activities described in this Policy.

17.1 Data Subject Rights

Under applicable data-protection law, you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and complaint to a competent authority. You may complain to a data-protection authority where you live, where you work, or where the alleged infringement occurred.

Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to direct marketing at any time, and we will stop using your personal information for that purpose.

17.2 International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to the United States. Where required by applicable law, we will use a valid transfer mechanism, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the relevant UK authority, and assess and implement necessary supplementary safeguards.

17.3 Representatives and Data Protection Officer

Nodeloc LLC must appoint an EEA representative, UK representative, or Data Protection Officer where required by applicable law and publish the relevant contact information in this Policy. Whether any such appointment is required must be assessed before publication.

17.4 Handling Requests

We generally respond to a valid request within one month. Complex or multiple requests may be extended as permitted by law. If we extend the response period or deny a request, we will explain the reason and available complaint options where required by law.

18. Additional U.S. State Privacy Terms

If an applicable U.S. state privacy law grants you relevant rights, you may request to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and may opt out of any sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling activities as defined by applicable law.

We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or similar opt-out mechanism where required by law.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable state privacy right. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request where permitted by law. We may verify your identity, the agent’s authority, and the authenticity of the request.

If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to the decision notice or emailing [email protected].

19. Additional Terms for Mainland China

Where the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and other Mainland China data-protection laws apply to our processing, Nodeloc LLC will act as the personal information handler and process personal information in accordance with the principles of lawfulness, legitimacy, necessity, and good faith.

19.1 Information Necessary to Provide the Services

We process information as described in Sections 3 through 5. If you decline to provide information necessary for basic account, posting, security, and community-moderation functions, we may be unable to provide the relevant function. For non-essential processing, we will obtain consent separately where required by law, and you may withdraw that consent without losing basic functionality.

19.2 Cross-Border Processing

Because Nodeloc LLC is located in the United States, your personal information may be transferred to or stored in the United States. Where required by applicable law, we will inform you of the overseas recipient, processing purposes and methods, categories of personal information, and means of exercising your rights; obtain separate consent; and complete any applicable security assessment, certification, standard contract, or other legally required procedure.

19.3 Your Rights

You may request access to, a copy of, correction of, supplementation of, or deletion of personal information; restrict or refuse particular processing; withdraw consent; close your account; and request an explanation of this Policy and our processing rules as provided by law. Close relatives may exercise applicable rights concerning a deceased person’s information as provided by law.

19.4 Minors’ Information

Under Mainland China law, personal information relating to a child under 14 may be considered sensitive personal information and may require guardian consent and specific processing rules. The Services are not directed to children under 13. Whether a 13-year-old may use a specific Service also depends on the applicable product age restriction and Mainland China law.
