About a month ago, we made it easier to upgrade memberships and lowered the restrictions on inviting friends. Our original intention was to help newcomers integrate into NL more quickly.
However, recently, as many of you have noticed, some people have been abusing the relaxed rules to invite large numbers of secondary accounts, using these accounts to have bots reply, and even running mass giveaways, which undermines the fairness of the community.
In light of this, we have no choice but to restore the original upgrade conditions and make the ability to invite friends exclusive to Gold Members again.
Freedom is relative—you cannot ruin someone else’s experience. Friendliness should be shown to those who deserve it.
NL remains a community that is free, equal, friendly, open, and fun. But in order to protect our community, we will regularly remove those who undermine its atmosphere.
